Terms of use
These terms govern your use of the ProofScene website at proofscene.com, including the free tools and the forms on it. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. They cover this website only — if and when you become a customer of the ProofScene product, a separate agreement will cover that service.
About this website
ProofScene is 3D print proofing and artwork approval software. The product is pre-launch: this site describes what it does and what is being built, and invites print businesses to request early access. Nothing on this site is an offer to supply the product on particular terms, a commitment to a release date, or a guarantee that any specific capability will ship in a particular form.
Acceptable use
You may read, share and link to anything on this site, and use the free tools for your own business purposes. You agree not to:
- use the site or its forms to send unlawful, abusive, misleading or unsolicited commercial content;
- submit someone else's personal information without a proper basis for doing so;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site, its infrastructure or any connected system;
- scrape, crawl or copy the site at a volume that degrades it for other people;
- interfere with the site's security features or attempt to circumvent them; or
- reproduce substantial parts of the site's content as your own, or republish it without attribution.
We may restrict or withdraw access to the site, or to any part of it, if it is being used in a way that breaches these terms.
The free tools
The reprint cost calculator and the proof approval checklist are provided free of charge as general aids. They run entirely in your browser and we neither receive nor store what you enter.
The calculator produces an illustrative estimate from figures you supply. It is not a forecast, a benchmark, a valuation, or a promise of savings, and it should not be used as the sole basis for a commercial decision. The checklist is a general list of common pre-production checks; it is not exhaustive, it is not tailored to your process, substrates or equipment, and it does not replace your own prepress procedures, quality system or professional judgement.
What a 3D proof represents
Where this site describes or shows 3D proofs, it is important to be precise about what they are for. A 3D proof represents appearance, artwork placement, proportion, materials and finishing so that a customer can review a job in context before production. It is not a calibrated contract-color proof unless it is produced within a formal color-managed workflow.
Screens vary. Color, gloss level, metallic effects, translucency and surface texture will not match a printed result exactly, and no on-screen representation should be relied upon for contractual color matching. Where color tolerance is contractual, continue to use color-managed proofing appropriate to your process. Responsibility for what is approved and produced on any given job remains with you and your customer.
Intellectual property
The content, design, copy, code, illustrations and the ProofScene name and marks on this site belong to ProofScene or its licensors, and are protected by copyright and trade mark law. You may quote short extracts with attribution and a link. You may not reproduce the site's design or substantial parts of its content, or use our name or marks in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation, without our written permission.
Any material you send us through a form remains yours. By sending it you give us permission to use it for the purpose you sent it for — answering you, and assessing early access — as set out in our privacy policy. Please do not send confidential production files or customer artwork through this website.
Third-party links
This site links to other websites we think are useful. We do not control them and we are not responsible for their content, their accuracy or their privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement.
No warranty
This website and its tools are provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep the information accurate and current, but we do not warrant that it is complete, error-free, or suitable for your particular circumstances, and we do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or free of defects. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties in relation to this website.
Nothing on this site is legal, financial or professional advice.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ProofScene will not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss of profit, revenue, production time, business or data, arising from your use of this website or of the free tools on it — including any decision made in reliance on an estimate the calculator produced or a check the checklist did or did not list.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
Privacy
Our privacy policy explains what we collect through this site and what we do with it. It forms part of these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product and the site develop. The current version always appears on this page with its date, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms, and any dispute arising from them or from your use of this website, are governed by the laws applicable at ProofScene's place of business, and the courts there have jurisdiction. This does not remove any protection available to you as a consumer under the mandatory law of the country you live in.
